The Double Layer Removable Insulation System is the most common system used to reduce noise and heat loss on turbines to date and can be very complex to install.
A Double Layer Insulation System can consist of 500 to 600 puzzle like pieces. To optimize its effectiveness, the pieces are designed to be installed in a staggered manner. In Return, when the insulation is removed for routine maintenance, if the piece is not reinstalled properly the effectiveness of the Insulation System will be compromised.
Double Layer Insulation Systems are a time consuming process for installation and removal compared to a Single Layer System.
